About
Belinda Coates is a well respected social worker, mother and lifelong Ballarat resident. She has worked across the Ballarat district for over sixteen years in grassroots social work, counselling and community development.
She has also been instrumental in many local human rights and anti-violence campaigns, with a particular focus on the prevention of health and social problems.

Policies
Our communities want and deserve first class health services, education and training opportunities. We also need smart, long-term solutions for a secure water supply and strong action on climate change for a more sustainable economy.
In the Ballarat region, the Greens will:
- focus on the creation of local green jobs through action on climate change;
- prioritise healthy living and the prevention of illness with more funding for community health, free dental care and mental health services;
- work towards free education, from early childhood to TAFE, vocational training and university;
- introduce smarter water solutions such as water tanks, efficiency, conservation, stormwater capture and greater use of recycled water;
- provide an experienced, local voice that truly represents the community, not just the party line.
The Ballarat electorate includes the towns and suburbs of Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Buninyong, Blackwood, Burrumbeet, Clunes, Creswick, Daylesford, Myrniong and Trentham.
