Menzies

About

Chris Padgham has lived in Warrandyte all his life. He graduated with a degree in Biological Science specializing in genetics. Chris has spent the bulk of his professional career in the Information Technology sector, primarily in Human Resource and Payroll systems.

Chris is also a trained Secondary Teacher, having worked for Richmond TAFE and Collingwood TAFE.

Chris enjoys bushwalking and has walked in Australia, New Zealand and the Himalayas.

Having watched for several years with growing dismay the inability of the two major parties to adapt to the changing times in which we find ourselves, Chris decided that it was time to take direct action and join the only party that was taking a responsible approach to the threat of climate change.

Policies

The area covered by the Menzies electorate is a rare gem in an increasingly dense and populous city.  Those who live here value the space and natural environment.

We have seen dangerous signs from both Liberal and Labor that they regard the natural integrity of this area as something that can be recklessly squandered in the pursuit of packing more people into Greater Melbourne.  The Greens will fight to stop this as well as addressing other serious issues that the two main parties are unable or unwilling  to tackle including:

  • Improving public transport in the area with a feasibility study to be done to see if a rail link along the eastern freeway corridor would ease congestion on the Eastern Freeway and Hoddle street;

  • Developing a vibrant renewable energy industry in Australia to create jobs and wealth;

  • Supporting people who want to install solar panels, water tanks and other energy efficient measures;

  • Improving health and wellbeing of the Australian people including addressing the crisis in mental health.
