Deakin

About

After nearly twenty-seven years with the Metropolitan Ambulance Service, as a Mobile Intensive Care paramedic and senior manager, David was driven by his concerns about environmental issues to change careers. He successfully completed Bachelor and Honors Degrees in Environmental Science. He has currently applied to undertake a Master of Public Health; this will link his health background with his environmental studies.

It is this desire for seeing improvements in the area that inspired David to be a candidate. David likes helping others, demonstrated through his lengthy career in emergency care, both as a MICA paramedic and as an Ambulance Commander at major or multi casualty incidents, and as a Critical Incident Stress/Peer Support volunteer working with paramedics and their families.

David’s areas of political interest are health, environment/biodiversity, social justice, public safety and cultural diversity.

Policies

David wishes to use his extensive skills to help all members of the Deakin electorate. He has a wealth of experience working with individuals, families, community groups, hospital networks and various government committees. He enjoys meeting and working with people from all walks of life and backgrounds.
