About
Diane Atkinson lives in Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills. She went to high school in Strathalbyn and later lived in Melbourne with her husband Ricardo and then their two sons. There she was involved in various community groups promoting peace and international justice, Aboriginal rights and renewable energy. Returning to the Adelaide Hills, she was inspired by the level of environmental awareness and became involved in the local grower’s market.
She joined The Greens as they were active in the Hills and supported the same environmental and social values.
Diane works in sales for a South Australian company that manufactures instruments designed for environmental monitoring and to optimise water use in agriculture.

Policies
The beautiful natural areas in Mayo could be the reason for the high environmental awareness amongst its residents. The Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu peninsula, Lake Alexandrina and Kangaroo Island include precious areas of bushland that local groups work hard to protect.
The Greens in Mayo are convinced that government needs to listen to and support volunteer natural resource groups, and are determined to achieve:
- sufficient flows for the lakes and Coorong,
- an end to offshore oil exploration and licenses;
- better planned development, less sprawl and affordable accommodation for those in need
- better planning of transport, including freight rail services
