About
Jenny O’Connor has worked as a nurse and counsellor for over 25 years in health and community services. She is currently a small business operator in north east Victoria. Jenny is committed to representing the concerns of country Victorians in the quest for a sustainable future, in the face of growing environmental, economic and social pressures.
As the mother of three children, Jenny has a real understanding of the issues affecting rural families, and she understands the difficulties that communities face with ongoing water shortages, the threat of bushfires, and other impacts of climate change on farming and tourism. She is also concerned at the lack of adequate health and other essential services that has a real impact on the wellbeing of country people.
Jenny has a long family history and connection with the North East Victorian region. She enjoys the lifestyle and community spirit of the region where she has lived for many years. She believes that the policies and philosophy of the Greens offers the best chance for a positive long-term future for all Victorians, and is keen to represent the interests of the people of Indi.
Policies
Jenny believes that a positive future for Australians is dependant on tackling climate change, ensuring financial stability, and providing quality public health and education for all. She sees both major parties to be tokenistic in their approach to addressing these urgent fundamentals, while lacking the courage to take real action. Jenny is convinced that the only way to ensure that truly progressive policies are introduced is by the election of Greens to the national parliament.
