About
Kalyna Micenko is a community artist who has been involved in green issues since working on the successful campaign to save the Franklin River in the early 80’s. She’s lived in Port Adelaide for the last 15 years and since 2005 has been the chairperson of the PA Artists Forum.
Kalyna is well known for her passion to ensure the Port’s proud heritage is preserved and reclaimed for public benefit not private gain.
She has worked to protect local heritage icons like Harts Mill and is currently negotiating to retain community access to the ex-Sailing Boat Club building.
Kalyna has supported the 2020 Summit's "Creative Australia" recommendation for artists in every school because it would provide jobs for artists and creative development for kids.
In 2005 Kalyna received ‘The Ministers’ Art Excellence Award’ for her work in state schools. She has represented Australia overseas as an artist in residence in Pakistan, Canada and Cuba.
Living in Port Adelaide of course Kalyna barracks for the Power!

Kalyna also has a long opposition to uranium mining and certainly does not want to see it exported through our port.
And as a Green in Port Adelaide, Kalyna is concerned that Labor and Liberal have just passed laws to allow for compulsory income management where social security recipients will lose control of half of their income. The scheme may apply to parts of Salisbury and the Parks area and is really just an insult to people in our community who are already struggling. The Greens in the Senate will oppose any attempt to impose this system here.
