Policies

The Greens priorities in Hume are:

  • Creating new employment though programs to improve environmental sustainability
  • Protecting prime agricultural lands from damage by mining exploration
  • Increasing investment in public education to ensure all children receive a quality education
  • Increasing funding for healthcare facilities, particularly for mental and dental health, to meet the needs of our communities.
  • Beginning the transition to a low carbon economy. The Greens have proposed an interim carbon tax to break the deadlock on emissions trading. Australia needs a scheme which supports households, not one which gives billions of dollars in handouts to the biggest polluters.
