Candidate for Gippsland

About

Michael's grandparents were pioneer dairy farmers in the picturesque Strzelecki ranges and his early years were spent helping on the family dairy farm in Gippsland.

He gained a great understanding of the land and knows that to prosper, Gippsland needs to stay green while caring for its natural assets and maximising employment opportunities.

Michael graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Business and had a career in marketing and sales.

Michael is a keen bushwalker and cyclist and has walked the entire length of the Grand Ridge Road. He also enjoys spending time on my brother’s 50 acre block on the edge of the Strzeleckis.

Michael has travelled extensively and been to places as diverse as Kyrgyzstan, Antarctica and Bolivia; seeing the effects of climate change close-up.

Policies

Michael believes that jobs are the key to success for any community and job creation is his number one priority for Gippsland. He remembers the huge job losses in the 1990s due to the privatisation of the SECV.

He believes Gippsland’s future lies in renewable energy and the maintenance of native forests. Thousands of desperately needed manufacturing jobs could be created for Gippsland if people would embrace renewable energy.

We should be value adding, skilling people and having them work in genuine long-term sustainable employment.
