Candidate for Petrie

About

Peter Jeremijenko grew up in Wavell Heights, and has spent many years working in and around the electorate of Petrie.

He enjoys boating and sailing on Moreton bay and has a keen interest in protecting this natural playground. He remains concerned about the effect of climate change and ongoing pollution of our bays, rivers and wetlands.  

Peter has been politically active since school and university days and has worked with the Media Entertainers, Arts Alliances (MEAA) to improve rights and conditions for performers. He has worked for 15 years as a stuntman, nine with Movie World, and performed in over 52 movies and TV shows.  He also has been active in promoting and selling green technologies such as solar energy.  

He opposes the internet filter and is sympathetic to the plight of refugees.

He believes in working towards a more sustainable economy, protecting the rivers and wetlands and making the big polluters pay.

Policies

Petrie is an area of great natural beauty. It is a diverse growing electorate with beautiful beaches and picturesque suburbs.  It contains
some of Brisbane’s most important waterways and wetlands with tributaries of the Pine river and Burpengary creek.  The Greens in Petrie will protect your area, and advocate to:

  • provide affordable housing;
  • improve public transport;
  • create new, sustainable business opportunities
  • improve public health and public education;
  • protect and improve our beaches, waterways and wetlands;
  • promote effective action on climate change
  • and enhance liveability for all people.
