Candidate for Bendigo

About

Standing as a Greens candidate was an easy decision for me. I am passionate about the environment and social justice issues and I also have a keen interest in education and health.

I am a mother and I feel strongly about the future we are leaving for our children.

I was born in Castlemaine, have lived in Maldon and spent most of my childhood in Central Victoria. I moved back to this beautiful region seven years ago and fell in love with its sense of community and spirit. I knew that this was the place I wanted to raise my young son.

I work in Bendigo and I also study politics at University. So I understand the issues facing students and families in this area. The Greens understand these issues.

We all deserve a future that has fresh air, clean water, a quality preventative health system, and an education system that is based on merit and opportunity. The Greens have this vision.

This region is one of the fastest growing in Australia, we have an amazing opportunity to be leaders in a renewable, ecologically sustainable future.

Policies

The Greens are the fastest growing party in Australia. Voters are turning to us for a voice and a vision in this election. The Bendigo region has a bright future and voting Green will ensure it stays that way. I am a mother to a 6 year old boy and I feel strongly about the future we are leaving.

Voting Green in this region would mean:

  • Increased funding for all levels of public education. We believe that education should be based on merit and opportunity, not affordability;
  • Protection of native vegetation;
  • Greater help and support for University students/youth. Greens will increase the youth allowance by $115 per fortnight;
  • Introduction of the Greens Denticare scheme. We are the only party with a fully funded universal dental scheme. Waiting lists are too long in this region, Greens know how important dental health is;
  • Commitment and real action on climate change. We need a tax on carbon, investment in renewables and real government incentives, so that as individuals we have the power to make a difference.

Central Victoria is a beautiful place to live and it is time to make your vote count! Voting Greens, its a vote for the future. Because who you vote for matters.
