Budget quick fix on skills wrong: Bandt
The Greens MP and spokesperson for Employment and Workplace Relations Adam Bandt has raised concerns that the Government is ignoring the skills and potential of local workers, including migrants, in its plans to fast-track skilled migration.
Mr Bandt also said the quick fix solution comes as unemployment amongst qualified migrants permanently settled in Australia is too high.
CDEP reform offers welcome opportunities
The Australian Greens today welcomed the commitment by the Minister for Indigenous Affairs Jenny Macklin to reform the CDEP program, saying it offers an opportunity to fix outstanding problems with the program and build on its successes.
