• My question is for the Minister for Agriculture. Is the minister aware that Ignite Energy, the advanced lignite development plant in Morwell, intends to use native forest wood as a fuel source in the development site as well as brown coal?
  • In April the government provided a $100 000 grant to the Ryan and McNulty timber mill in Benalla to expand its capacity to process native forest timbers, including mountain ash from the Central Highlands. Was the grant intended as a way to inflate the value of the company should any compensation arrangements be an outcome from the forest industry task force?
  • I have been provided with details of a conversation with Mr Walsh from VicForests who advised a community member that VicForests has no capacity to swap out the Imperium logging coupe, a coupe that contains Leadbeater's possum,
  • My constituency question is for the Minister of Housing. It relates to concerns from residents of the Lakewood Community Managed Co-operative based in Larissa Ave, Ringwood.
  • In relation to the Chandler Highway widening and bridge duplication project proposed by VicRoads and seeking information that is not included on the Chandler Highway widening and bridge duplication project
  • In relation to the 2014 election promise made by the Labor candidate for the seat of Forest Hill, Ms Pauline Richards, that Labor would support the protection of the Healesville Freeway Reserve between Springvale Road and Boronia Road and it's reservation as Crown land:
  • My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Agriculture. The Victorian government and VicForests are facing the same market failures for woodchips as the New South Wales government. The Australia Institute has released a discussion paper entitled Money doesn't grow on trees — The financial and economic losses of native forestry in NSW.
  • I raise the issue of the recent spate of breaches by VicForests in the rainforest areas of East Gippsland — up to five in three months. Can the minister advise why VicForests cannot identify protected rainforest species?
  • In relation to the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail (MPCT) and user safety, which has been impacted by the CityLink Tulla Widening Project, creating a dangerous blind corner near the entrance to Strathmore Secondary College:
  • In relation to the revegetation and rehabilitation of Mount Disappointment State Forest, devastated by the 2009 Black Saturday bushfire, there is community concern that there is further damage to the State Forest from off-road vehicles, including motor bikes and four wheel drives:
  • In relation to the Victorian Auditor General Office report on Tendering of Metropolitan Bus Contract and the recommendations in relation to Public Transport Victoria's lack of adequate bus performance monitoring:
  • I rise to speak on the Building Legislation Amendment (Consumer Protection) Bill 2015. Certainly the Greens support the bill and its intent. We believe that these are sensible amendments and reforms in this area. The bill responds to a couple of reports, including one from the Victorian Auditor-General's Office (VAGO) from May 2015, which reported on Victoria's consumer protection framework for building construction and which once again criticised the current system for providing inadequate protection for consumers.
  • Can the minister advise: of the 21 000 people that she says are employed in the timber industry, noting that the Greens dispute that figure in terms of being employed in the native forest industry, how many of those people are suitably qualified to conduct targeted pre-logging fauna surveys?
  • Can the minister advise how and when VicForests will change its approach to targeted pre-logging fauna surveying, and will VicForests from now on survey every coupe that is likely to contain protected species?
  • I refer to a recent Age article headed 'CityLink-Tulla widening a “failure of duty of care” for Strathmore school students' health?', published on 6 March and written by Gina McColl.
  • I want to talk about a petition I received yesterday online from the Public Transport Users Association and Public Transport Not Traffic.
