Nadine Reeves-Hennessey

Candidate for Carine

Nadine Reeves-Hennessey is The Greens (WA) candidate for Carine in the 2017 WA election.

I am proud to be a candidate for the Greens in the electorate of Carine for the upcoming state election as they are the only party that is based on values that I can stand for.

The Carine electorate has wonderful parklands, bushland areas and beaches which I have had the pleasure of enjoying over the 9 years that I have been a resident in the area. There are great initiatives like the Duncraig Edible Garden and the Poynter Farmers Market in the local area and the community spirit is very strong which is why I am grateful to live there. I am committed to protecting the natural environment.

Many people, myself included, are becoming disillusioned with the way our political process is being conducted as it seems to be serving the vested interests of major party donors at the expense of the needs of the broader community and in particular those who are most vulnerable. We are measured as a society by how we treat the most challenged. I believe in integrity and transparency in government and I stand for an inclusive society which supports the rights and empowerment of Indigenous communities, people with disabilities, the homeless, LGBTI community and refugees.

As a business manager & team leader for the last 7 years with a customer service and sales background, I have a passion for people and am motivated to empower sustainable policies that support those most in need and encourage innovative, environmentally conscious business development.

I have worked with many young people and feel that with high university debts, low employment rates and unaffordable housing prices the resource and energy that they bring to a vibrant economy is being limited and their opportunities under resourced and I am committed to this changing.

The arts are a major source of collaboration in the community and I believe they need to be supported more than they are.

As a diver and snorkeler I appreciate how important it is to protect our oceans and the need for a continued expansion of renewable energy and policies that limit the impact of climate change for the next generation.

It is an honour to stand with Alison Xamon, the upper house candidate for North Metro who is a person of integrity, commitment and vision.
