Robyn Treacy

Candidate for Wanneroo

Robyn Treacy is The Greens (WA) Candidate for Wanneroo in the 2017 WA election.

I have spent most of my life living in Perth’s Northern Suburbs, growing up in Sorrento and living in Wanneroo for the last ten years with my husband and three young children. I have witnessed firsthand the rapid development which has occurred over these years, with vineyards making way for housing developments, new schools and shopping centres, so I recognise the challenges faced in accessing infrastructure and public services.

After leaving uni with a Bachelor in Computer Science, I started working in the insurance industry in financial reporting and product development, and then as a business analyst finding ways to improve the work processes for the public and private sectors.

After the birth of my first child I started a food education and team building business. Understanding the challenges of running a small business, and my experience in improving and streamlining larger businesses’ means that I am focused and committed to working with the business community to simplify government regulations and remove obstacles to enable businesses to get on with what they do best.

Despite my background it was the Social Justice policies that drew me to the Greens. We need high quality, affordable education and accessible healthcare. I want all children to have the same opportunities to make a meaningful and useful life that we had, and for their education to prepare them for the evolving industries and businesses that they will face in the future.

I’m extremely proud of Wanneroo’s history of diversity and inclusion, from the market gardeners who established Wanneroo as the breadbasket for Perth to today, where we hold the largest citizenship ceremony in the country with 800 new citizens proudly taking their place at our last ceremony.

I believe that we can live in a world where opportunity thrives and we respect and protect our amazing and unique country and multi-cultural heritage. We owe to our children to create the best and most secure future that we can, where they can experience all that our incredible state has to offer. We have navigated the mining boom and now together we need to passionately build our future.

Together with Alison Xamon, your upper house candidate, I am willing to work hard to give you a genuine alternative.
