Ziggy Fatnowna

Candidate for North Metropolitan

Ziggy Fatnowna is The Greens (WA) 3rd Upper House Candidate for the North Metropolitan region in the 2017 WA election.

Australia is not only my home, but has also been home to my ancestors for thousands and thousands of years. I have had the privilege of growing up all around Australia which has constantly challenged me to continue to broaden my perspective. I am the embodiment of this nation’s true history.

Without settlement I don’t exist as I am both Indigenous and Non Indigenous and have a unique perspective of seeing the whole story. From a young age I knew I wanted to be involved with social reforms and this is what has drawn me so strongly to The Greens.

My decision to run in the State Election is not to be mistaken as me trying to speak on behalf of any Indigenous or Non Indigenous Australian as all human experience is unique, however I strive to be a catalyst for change in the betterment of equality within the Australian society.

Throughout my life I have seen this nations people and environment subjected to oppression, I feel that I have been equipped with the tools to help shine a light on this struggle and because of this I refuse to sit in silence. No matter how many people try to divide our society, I will always stand for an inclusive Australia.

I believe that at the core of all human experience is compassion and through this empathy we can come together to celebrate not only what unites us but what makes us truly unique.
