Hi, I’m James.
I’m running for the Senate because we drastically need to change the way politics is done in this country.
I’ve worked for over 10 years in public libraries serving local communities, providing information and access to resources. Over that time I’ve seen how direct support services can improve lives and help people become a part of their wider community.
In my role as a librarian and union delegate, I've seen the powerful impact we can make in people’s everyday lives when we support and empower communities to make decisions about the services they need.
Growing up in public housing also showed me how critical it is that we have quality public services and welfare systems that meet everyone’s basic needs.
Together we can ensure that all of us have a roof over our heads, quality education, secure work and the guaranteed income required to live a good life.
I’ve learned that we can only build this type of society by connecting with each other and developing a shared vision and priority for our communities.
We are facing the climate crisis, a pandemic, and uncertainty in our collective quality of living. It's more important than ever that we strengthen our social bonds to ensure that no one is left behind.
This country needs to make big changes. Our economy is driving climate change while insecure and precarious work is leaving too many people worse off.
Australia is a wealthy country, and while a few billionaires have increased their wealth considerably, many more of us have been left behind. Now we need to make the choice to tax billionaires to build a society that provides everybody with the necessities.
I’ll always work for better public services like publicly-owned hospitals, housing and schools, treaties and sovereignty for First Nations people, and will champion the big ideas that are necessary to overcome the challenges we face.
This work can only be done collectively - and that’s why we need you.
