Candidate for Redlands
I am a Certified Practising Accountant and retired management consultant who has lived in the Redlands/Logan region with my family since 1982. I have worked in the tourism, development, health, and retirement village sectors in senior executive and project management roles.
I have worked tirelessly on local health initiatives as the past Chairperson of the Bayside District Health Council between 1998 to 2003, overseeing the expansion of the Redland Hospital.
I have been active in numerous local environmental and planning issues, successfully leading the opposition to the so-called “koala tollway” in the 1990s. In 2012 I was awarded the title of Environmental Champion by Queensland Conservation Council for my continued work in raising the need to protect local bushland.
I am passionate about protecting the lifestyle of Redlands for both current and future generations. I am alarmed at the way in which our area is being developed, and the lack of support for local job creation provided by the current and present State government.
I will commit towards local job creation, particularly in tourism and renewable energy sectors, as well as higher support to small business innovators.
I firmly believe in accountability of politicians at all levels of government, and an end to corporate and developer influence over political decisions.
