CAMPAIGN MANAGER – THE GREENS NSW

The Greens NSW is seeking an experienced campaign manager to take a leading role in the next Federal and State election campaigns.

Position concludes

19 April 2019, unless then next Federal election postdates the 2019 NSW election, then contract will continue until four weeks after the Federal election

 A. SCOPE OF THE ROLE 

The campaign manager is responsible primarily for the Federal Election campaign, and will have a lead role in the State Election campaign, in accordance with the strategy determined by the Standing Campaign Committee (SCC), including:

1. Developing an integrated campaign plan to achieve the agreed campaign objectives

2. Supervising the implementation of the campaign plan and reporting progress regularly to the SCC

3. Coordinating development and supervising implementation of the campaign communications strategy

4. Coordinating development and supervising implementation of the campaign fundraising strategy

5. Working collaboratively with the State Manager to manage a balanced campaign budget and ensuring full compliance with electoral legislation

6. Developing and maintaining effective professional relationships with SCC members; NSW party staff, office bearers, Lead Senate candidate, MPs, Upper House candidates, local campaigners and candidates; and Australian Greens party staff and members of the national campaign team

7. Developing and supervising the delivery of comprehensive training and support to candidates and campaigners

8. Providing political and logistical advice to candidates and local campaigners

9. Coordinating the nomination process for candidates to ensure full compliance with electoral legislation

10. Providing written and verbal reports as required by SCC and/or State Delegates Council

11. Producing a comprehensive post-election evaluation report

12. Any other tasks as directed by SCC

 B. REPORTING AND MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

The campaign manager will:

1. Report to and be directed by the SCC

2. Report to the State Manager on administrative issues and other matters delegated by the SCC

3. Supervise and mentor paid and volunteer campaign workers engaged by the statewide campaign

4. Work closely with the lead Senate candidate, lead Upper House candidates, lower house campaign coordinators and candidates of priority Lower House seats

 C. GENERAL WORK CONDITIONS

The campaign manager will be:

1. Appointed on a fixed-term contract until 19 April 2019 (four weeks following the NSW State election to be held on 23 March 2019) unless the next Federal election postdates the State election, then the contract will continue until four weeks after the Federal election

2. Paid fortnightly a salary of $93,096 per annum (top level of current salary schedule) plus 10.5% superannuation

3. Subject to employment conditions as set out in the Greens NSW Staff Collective Agreement, including a three-month probationary period with review by the SCC and State Manager 

4. Based primarily at the Greens NSW state office in Glebe

5. Required to work some evenings and weekends

6. Expected to adhere to Greens principles, policies and party constitution 

7. Not be a member of another political party

 D. SELECTION CRITERIA

The campaign manager is expected to demonstrate: 

1. Experience managing a state-wide or national electoral or other political campaign

2. Experience developing and implementing successful, innovative and contemporary communications strategies, including an in-depth knowledge of social media platforms, databases and other online tools

3. Experience managing financial resources, including the delivery of a balanced budget

4. Experience leading, managing and motivating a high-performing team of paid and volunteer staff

5. Ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure with competing deadlines

6. Experience and/or ability to analyse and interpret political research and provide advice to decision-makers

7. Exceptional project management skills, including the identification and minimisation of risks

8. Well-developed political judgement, and a thorough understanding of current Australian and NSW political issues and the political system

9. A willingness to understand and respect the structure of Greens NSW and Australian Greens

10. Excellent communication and negotiation skills

11. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
