Off the back of the recent Women's Day rally, the Victorian Greens Women's Network have a lot to share.

VGWN Annual Planning Day – 11 February 2017

The VGWN held our annual Planning Day on the 11th February to map out our goals for the coming year. We really enjoyed the day and have had a lot of positive feedback. There were some concrete and exciting plans to come out of the day which we look forward to turning into action. The VGWN would like to thank all those who came along and especially Senator Janet Rice, Ellen Sandall MLA and Nina Springle MLC for their words of encouragement.

3. Sunday 28 May 2017 - VGWN Quarterly Meeting - 2:30pm – 4:30pm - State Office
4. Saturday 12 August 2017 - VGWN Annual General Meeting - 2:30pm – 4:30pm - State Office
5. Sunday 12 November 2017 - VGWN Quarterly Meeting - 2:30pm – 4:30pm - State Office

In order to make the meetings as accessible and inclusive as possible, teleconference details will be provided so women unable to make it in to State Office can dial in. Meetings will also be child-friendly, and we are happy to facilitate requests for billeting for those members travelling a long distance.

Welcome to our new Treasurer!

We are very pleased to welcome our new Treasurer, Sarah Mansfield who was elected at our meeting on 11 February. Sarah is a Geelong based general practitioner with a background in health economics, working with the community and with people experiencing homelessness. She is also a senior lecturer at Deakin University. She recently ran as the Green’s candidate for Corio in the recent federal election.

We are very excited to have her on board.

Positions vacant – join us!

Exciting opportunities exist to join our executive team.

Co-Secretary:

We are currently seeking as a co-secretary, working alongside fellow co-secretary Susanne Newton.

Policy Officer:

The Policy Officer will work with Network members and the help drive the Policy Working Group to review existing gender equality policies within the Victorian Greens, and help shape advocacy the Network may wish to engage in in this space.

Events Coordinator:

The Events co-ordinator will review upcoming events the Network may want to participate in, and help keep members up to date with what’s happening.

Social Media and Communications Officer:

This role will help direct and shape the Networks FaceBook page, as well as communications with members.

If you have a skill or passion that you’d like to share with our group, no matter how big or small, please let us know! We welcome participation from all members. For example, if you’d like to help out with our social media, communications, events or fundraising but can’t commit to becoming a member of the Executive we’d still love to hear from you.

Working Groups

At our Planning Day on 11 February it was decided that the network would facilitate ongoing working groups to look at two particular areas of interest to members – Affirmative Action and Policy.

If either of these areas are of interest, we encourage you to come along to the upcoming working group meetings listed above.
