THE Greens have called for an investigation into a dramatic arrest caught on camera at a Northcote train station last night.
A Protective Services Officer appears to repeatedly strike a man with a baton while another officer grapples with the man.
The incident took place in front of shocked onlookers on the platform at Merri Station yesterday evening.
Victorian Greens justice spokeswoman Sue Pennicuik called for the police and corruption watchdog IBAC to investigate.
“We need an independent body to oversee injuries or deaths at the hands of the police as recommended by the former Office of Police Integrity,” she said.
