Cathy Griff

Candidate for Bega

I am a long-established Bega Valley resident who has effectively represented The Greens on Bega Valley Shire Council since 2016.

My career has largely been in policy and research management for the federal government, including a decade with Screen Australia. I have also worked in a variety of film production roles from casting through to assistant directing. I was a SouthEast Arts board member for six years and continue to champion local culture and regional media in Eurobodalla and Bega.

I have succeeded in raising issues and prompting progress in critical areas - especially climate resilience and affordable housing. Other achievements on council have been in active transport, and in waste and recycling.

My commitment to the state election is based on my extensive policy and strategy experience; communication and consultation skills; and a passion for the Bega environment with its diverse, close-knit towns and rural communities.

Witnessing the ecological, social and economic damage of recent decades has wedded me to the practical and ambitious vision of Greens policy. In recent years, the NSW Greens have exposed pork-barrelling, brought the plight of koalas to the world’s attention and improved laws to reduce gambling harm and make government decisions fairer and more transparent.

There’s never been a more important time to have more Greens in parliament fighting for a future for all of us so that our NSW communities can safely thrive.
