Hi, I’m Anna and I’m your Greens Senate candidate for the Northern Territory.
I'm a veterinarian and public health advocate. I am putting myself forward because I believe in a positive future for all Territorians. I am standing for climate justice – to protect our precious natural environment and promote a sustainable economy.
I have a strong connection to animals and the environment. I love camping, exploring the wonders of our landscapes and seeing our native wildlife. I became interested in politics when I was in high school because I realised the big impact political decisions have on people’s lives and also animals – like decisions around live export and animal welfare. Live export must be phased out and communities must be supported to transition to sustainable industries.
As a vet, I’m committed to the development of a national animal welfare framework. Farmers also need support to transition from live export to sustainable markets, along with increased funding for animal disease surveillance and biosecurity.
Our natural environment and resources are not being treated with the respect they deserve. Environmental management decisions will impact future generations for many years to come, long after we’ve all gone so we must make them wisely. We need a political system that is not driven by the interests of big business. Unlike the major parties, I do not take donations from large corporations. I listen to ordinary people rather than those with the most money or power.
I live in Parap, Darwin, Larrakia country, but have spent time living and working across the Territory, meeting and talking to people in towns, cities and remote Indigenous communities. I support a process of agreement-making between governments and First Nations and truth-telling about our shared history.
I will work hard to create a positive, sustainable future for all of us.
I acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands across Australia, their elders past, present, and emerging. Their sovereignty was never ceded and this remains stolen land.
