Emily Webster

Candidate for Mparntwe Alice Springs Council

Emily Webster is a public school teacher, community advocate and former legal aid lawyer running for Alice Springs Town Council.

Emily came to Mparntwe Alice Springs in 2009 and now lives in Braitling with her young family, dog and chooks.

Before becoming a teacher, Emily worked as a legal aid lawyer on welfare rights, women’s rights and housing issues. She has served on the committees of the Arid Lands Environment Centre, the NT Working Women’s Centre and Birth & Beyond Parent Resource Centre. She is currently on the board of the Watch This Space Artist Run Initiative; is her school’s Union branch co-representative; and plays in a local netball team.

“I love this community so much. I wasn’t planning to run at first but there’s a real opportunity for change at this election. With other progressive candidates running and amazing women in the race, we can break the deadlock on Council and get social and environmental action.”
