Hi, I'm Asha, your Greens candidate for Mount Ommaney.
I have had the pleasure of living and working in Oxley since moving back to Australia in 2015. I grew up in developing countries, with my parents working in international aid. From a young age, I developed a passion for social justice and the importance of a functioning government and political system to facilitate positive change in society.
As a current psychology student at the University of Queensland, I am passionate about improving people's quality of life and cultivating opportunities for those less fortunate in our community.
In a world with so much uncertainty, it is more important than ever to look out for those most vulnerable in our community and support each other where we can. I believe in a future where everyone has equal opportunity to reach their goals and a community which supports and uplift each other.
Post-COVID, we have a unique opportunity to redefine our economy. We can have a sustainable future that respects our beautiful country and ensures that our children will be able to appreciate it for generations to come.
I see a future where Queensland leads the way with 100% publicly owned renewable energy. Our state can be a centre for the arts, scientific research, and innovative thinking to foster creativity and progressive futures for our young people.
Everyone should have access to basic necessities. We can have world-class universal education, free comprehensive health care, including dental and mental health, affordable public transport, and livable public housing and income support.
Let's give our community and youth a brighter future.
