Dung Tran

Candidate for Jordan

Hi I’m Dung and I’m proud to be your Greens candidate for Jordan.

I’m a lived-experience anti-racism storytelling mentor, educator, and advocate, currently living in Meanjin. Growing up in Ipswich during the 80s and 90s, I frequently faced and witnessed racism, which sparked in me a deep sense of social and racial justice that still fuels my efforts to tackle racism at all levels.

My personal experiences have become one of my greatest strengths - driving my fight for justice and encouraging others to recognise lived experience as the highest form of expertise. I embody this through my work at Our Race Community, an organisation I co-founded and where I serve as a director.

At Our Race Community, I work with a diverse team dedicated to a Story Holder-centric approach, ensuring that we design, construct, and deliver stories of strength and resilience in a way that centres the voices of those who have lived them.

I’m passionate about creating spaces where people from historically marginalized communities can come together, share our strengths, and collectively ensure that our skills, experiences, and stories remain ours to share, rather than being taken or misused by others.

I want our community to thrive and for everyone to have everything they need to live a good life. But right now, so many people in our community are struggling with the cost of living crisis - housing is too expensive and people are having to choose between buying groceries and having a roof over their head. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Unlike other parties, the Greens don’t take donations from big corporations, so we govern for you, not the highest bidder. We will take on the big corporations that are ripping off Queenslanders. We’ll make them pay their fair share and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools, free childcare, hospitals and essential services. We’ll also freeze rents and cap increases. We will increase public transport across our state and make it free.

The Greens will make groceries cheaper by breaking up the duopoly power of Coles and Woolies and stopping corporate price gouging for essentials. We’ll cut power bills with 100% publicly owned renewable energy, and take back control of our economy by bringing key infrastructure and services into public ownership.

This election is our chance for change. Will you join my campaign and help make it happen?
