Hi, I'm Scott.
I'm excited to be your Greens candidate for Mudgeeraba because I want to build and transform the region I love so much.
Since graduating from Palm Beach-Currumbin State High School, I've seen our area go through many changes. We face many challenges and opportunities presented by growth, globalisation, the digital economy and climate change.
I began my career in scientific research and have since worked in administration in the areas of healthcare, crisis accommodation, mental health and education and as a customer service agent for TransLink.
These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of a robust and inclusive community. I believe politicians should work for the needs of the people, rather than for vested corporate interests which destroy our way of life.
I am passionate about ensuring access to affordable social housing for every demographic of our community – from single people to families aspiring to own a home, and supporting older people looking to downsize.
Queenslanders need jobs, and they need homes, so the Greens will make big banks and massive mining corporations pay their fair share to create 20,000 jobs a year building 100,000 public homes over four years.
Now is the time to get serious about climate change adaptation and renewable energy. The Greens will end electricity privatisation in Queensland and transition our state to 100% publicly-owned renewable energy. This will supply us with the cheapest and most reliable energy system in Australia. We'll create 23,000 jobs a year across the state and slash bills by 48%.
We need better public transport on the Gold Coast to improve our lifestyle and to increase mobility and access to community facilities for non-drivers, including older people and youth. By adequately funding rail and bus services, we can help people get where they're going quicker and make our region more livable.
It's an honour to stand as your Greens candidate for Mudgeeraba. Will you join me in our people-powered movement for change?
