Bev Morris

Candidate for Schubert

Hi, I am Bev.

I passionately believe that our electorate needs an independent voice in parliament to represent the diversity of our people. I will champion local issues, scrutinise legislation and raise local issues. Climate change is an immediate risk to our farmers, vignerons and fresh food producers. Regions need access to affordable transport options and investment in regional emergency and affordable housing.

For more than thirty years I lived on a rural property in the Barossa Region, and with the recent arrival of a new granddaughter, three generations of my family now call this region home.

I hold a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management and I am studying for a Bachelor of Psychological Science and Sociology. I’ve dedicated my life to the community and volunteering. I have worked in the government departments of Primary Industries, Health and Education. I now support carers of someone with a disability. I volunteer with the Friends of Parks, and care deeply about retaining remnant vegetation and its diversity of flora and fauna.

As a Greens candidate and member of a minor party, I can offer you an alternative to the two major parties who do not accurately represent our diversity. I can take your voice into parliament. I am acutely aware of issues of homelessness, poverty, difficulty accessing services, lack of transport options and the scarcity of disability and mental health services, but it doesn’t have to be this way.

Together, we can…

  • Tackle climate change by rapidly transitioning to publicly owned renewable energy
  • Ensure everyone has a home
  • Fund world class public schools, hospitals, public transport and social services
  • Protect our conservation parks and native vegetation which provides a home to our rare and unique flora and fauna

I will represent our community’s values in parliament. Together we can create a future for all of us.
