Hi, I’m Lazaras.
I’m running for Torrens because I believe politics should prioritise our community and our environment.
I am from Oakden, spoiled by the Roy Amer Reserve wetlands all my life. I am passionate about empowering others to work towards positive change. I practice service above self, coordinating volunteer organisations and the Young Greens to help the community and environment.
Voting and participating in our democratic institutions is how we can best fight back against systems that refuse to work for us in this state election. The Greens work against the grain, refusing to accept corrupt corporate donations, and instead, we endeavour to side with you.
Our unravelling climate and ecological emergencies, housing and employment crises, youth political alienation, and increasingly declining health and education services under both major parties have inspired me to step away from public service and dedicate myself to this bolder, brighter vision. I now fight for our movement within the political office of our long-time staunch battler Senator Sarah Hanson-Young.
Through your vote, by electing Rob Simms MLC and Yesha Joshi into our upper house, the Greens can control the balance of power in our own right and hold lawmakers that do not work for you to account.
Together, we can:
- Tackle climate change by rapidly transitioning to publicly owned renewable energy
- Fund world-class public schools, hospitals, public transport, and social services
- Work with First Nations peoples to establish a path for sovereignty and meaningful treaties
- Restore integrity to politics and end dirty donations
I’ll represent our community’s compassion, providing a much needed political shakeup, and proudly demonstrate how Torrens never condoned business as usual. Join me in reminding our lawmakers that they serve us, and we demand a fairer and cleaner future for all of us.
