Candidate for Lyons - 4
I am standing for the Tasmanian Greens to give back to the community. Only the Greens have a long-term vision for Tasmania that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.
I moved to Tasmania in 2010, after nearly 30 years working in the areas of biodiversity conservation and terrestrial ecosystem policy for Western Australia’s Environmental Protection Authority.
In my experience strong, independent environmental and planning agencies, effective public consultation processes, and transparent, evidence-based decision-making are fundamental to good government. Long-term sustainable social, environmental and economic outcomes depend on these processes.
Concentrating decision-making power in the Minister, to “reduce red and green tape’, only promotes short-term political decisions that erode public trust in government, and damage the social licence of contentious industries.
