Mount Alexander Shire, Castlemaine Ward
I've lived locally for more than a decade and have served on Castlemaine Council on two separate occasions. I care about our community and will continue working with locals for better environmental and socially just outcomes.
Bronwen Machin has been a Castlemaine local for fourteen years, having fallen in love with a community that is rich in innovation, believes in service to others and caring for the environment.
Before serving on Council Bronwen spent over a decade dealing with climate change-related issues, and has helped to set up the Mount Alexander Sustainability Group and work for the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance. She has also been a contributor to the Castlemaine District Community Health reconciliation events and supported the Castlemaine Community House.
In her time as a councillor, she has been involved with advocating for more affordable housing and public transport, improving climate change and waste plans and ensuring rates are not invested in organisations that harm the climate, supporting investigations into council spending, and sought protection and development of agriculture so we can grow food for local consumption and export.
Bronwen will work diligently to support the building of infrastructure that works for the community, deliver greater transparency around project costings, and ensure that a review of services and facilities ensures that they continue to meet local needs. She will also value planning that invests in both the economic development of the region and environmentally sustainable growth.
