Job Description:


Victorian Greens Senator Janet Rice is seeking a passionate and engaged person to join her team in the role of Office Manager, based at the electorate office in Brunswick East.

The Office Manager ensures the efficient and effective running of the senator’s electorate office, and works closely with staff and volunteers. The Office Manager oversees and reports on the office budgets, coordinates our office systems and spaces, and manages the senator’s diary, travel and correspondence.

This role is a key point of contact for people contacting the senator’s office in Brunswick East, and will be responsible for offering assistance and support to constituents on a variety of issues, including but not limited to immigration and  housing. 


The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984, and employment conditions are outlined in the Members of Parliament (Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2016-2019. 

In addition to the salary, employer-sponsored superannuation of 15% is offered.

The position is offered at an Electorate Officer A classification with a salary of $68,482 p.a. plus 15% superannuation. The role attracts an additional Electorate Staff Allowance of $8,058 in recognition of reasonable additional hours of work and travel outside of business hours.

  1. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a close team under time constraints, competing priorities and other pressures.
  2. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills across diverse audiences.
  3. Excellent computer skills in email, online, word processing, and database packages.
  4. Experience in office administration, including managing budgets.
  5. Strong organisation, prioritisation and time management skills.
  6. Experience working directly with members of the public.
  7. Commitment to the Australian Greens’ Principles and Charter.
  8. Understanding of the Australian political system, including topical political issues.

Highly regarded:

  1. Experience working in a social work or advocate role. 
  2. Experience working in a political, community or campaigning organisation.
