Josh Fergeus

Councillor for Monash, Oakleigh Ward

I’m a Mount Waverley local, born and raised, and I love the diversity and vibrancy of my community. I care about making Monash as fair and inclusive as it can be and stand for open and transparent local government.

Josh believes that for our community to flourish, we need better investment in health, education and public transport. Josh is a foster carer and former President of the Foster Care Association of Victoria. He is passionate about creating a safe and nurturing environment for all children and young people, education, social justice and the environment.

Josh is a leader in the not-for-profit sector, with extensive experience in a broad range of areas including child and family welfare, mental health, disability, public health, international development, education and community broadcasting. A PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, Josh holds a Master's degree in Social Work from Monash University and Bachelor's degrees in Arts and Teaching from Deakin University.

Josh cares about a consultative approach to governance to ensure a sustainable and transparent planning and development process. He is committed to working closely with the community to protect the interests of local residents and small business owners.

Josh has chosen to stand with The Greens due to a shared vision of a society that cares about people and the environment. He believes his experience and knowledge will allow him to stand for decisions that have positive impacts for the area and its people, as opposed to individual councillors, developers and corporations.
