I’m Alexis, and I live in Deer Park with my husband and my dog, King.
I love living in such a culturally rich area with the amazing food options at Uncle Sam’s, Brimbank, Ballarat Road Foodworks and Cairnlea.
I’m running for election to council because we deserve local representatives who act with integrity. Both Labor and Liberal have let us down with recent allegations of branch stacking and corruption.
I started my career as a high school maths teacher and now work as a senior project manager. I’ve worked in public, private and higher education sectors and specialise in governance – a skill that is incredibly important for Councillors. When my children were growing up, I was very involved in their schools and sporting clubs and held positions on the committees. I am currently the President of a fundraising committee for the Children’s Medical Research Institute and show my support to several charities on an ongoing basis.
If elected, my priorities will be:
- ensuring the community is heard by council when big decisions are made.
- better development – I want the homes that people purchase in Brimbank to be quality, high energy rated properties, with disruption kept to a minimum when new houses are built.
- upgrading our parks and open space – I love the beautiful parklands in Brimbank, and I want them to be improved for everyone that uses them – pedestrians, joggers, bike riders and dog walkers.
- I will work to see more mental health awareness and more activities to keep young people busy and out of trouble.
I want to hear what you care about for our area – please contact me. For compassion, integrity and competence, Vote 1 Alexis Nguyen.
