Esther Kennedy

Candidate for Darebin City Council - Central ward

Hi, I’m Esther and I’m your Greens candidate in Central Ward.

I’m a small business advocate, mum and proud Preston local.

I work in economic development at a nearby council and have also been a business owner in the arts. This has been a trying year for all, and the next council term will be critical in rebuilding our community. I’m passionate about getting everyone to the table when it comes to problem solving and planning for our shared future.

Some big issues we’ll need to tackle together over the next four years include:

  • Economic recovery: supporting small businesses and Darebin employers, saving our creative industries and growing the care economy
  • Climate emergency: powering Darebin with renewable energy and backing a Green New Deal at the local level
  • Recycling revolution: fixing the waste crisis by using recycled materials when building roads and park benches, and moving to a 4-bin system
  • Preston Market development: advocating for traders, listening to the community and ensuring the market continues to thrive for generations to come
  • Post-Covid priorities: as we spend more time in and around our homes, there’s even more need for green spaces, safe bike lanes and footpaths, and quality services for our youngest, oldest and most vulnerable neighbours

I hope you will support me to represent the voices of Central Ward. Together we’ll navigate through these challenges to a resilient, thriving Darebin.
