Animals are sentient beings that deserve our care and respect.
However, every year millions of animals endure heinous cruelty and inhumane deaths in our livestock and meat industries.
Tens of thousands of sheep and cattle are exposed to shocking cruelty every year when they are exported for overseas slaughter. They are left in sweltering conditions on metal boxes, where disease sweeps across many and few make the journey alive.
Similarly, thousands of chickens and pigs are exposed to disgusting conditions in battery cages and sow stalls each year, creating conditions that breed disease and induce early death. This is no way for us to treat animals.
As your voice in Parliament, the Greens are working alongside animal welfare activists to end live exports, and ensure we ban sow stalls, greyhound racing and battery hens.
