Maribyrnong Council, Yarraville Ward
Having lived in Maribyrnong City for six years, I love raising my family in such a beautiful community. I care about making Maribyrnong as fair and inclusive as it can be and will stand for open and transparent local government.
Working for a local council, Simon specialises in developing new sporting clubs and diverse recreation opportunities to encourage all residents to live healthy, active lives. Simon has a double degree in Sports Administration and Business Management and is now undertaking a Master in Business Administration (MBA).
Simon believes that Maribyrnong needs strong leadership on sustainable development, with a focus on local businesses, public transport and beautiful open spaces. He understands that reliable and accessible public transport is the key to keeping traffic congestion and parking under control. Simon advocates for safer streets to allow pedestrians and cyclists to travel safely, especially for children to walk and ride to school, by getting trucks off residential streets and investing in our bike paths and footpaths.
Simon is running for Council because he wants Maribyrnong to be a great place for all of us to live and a great place for our children to grow up. He’s passionate about all residents being able to enjoy the outdoors and supporting our diverse community.
Simon has chosen to stand with The Greens due to a shared vision of a society that cares about people and the environment. He believes his experience and knowledge will allow him to stand for decisions that have positive impacts for the area and its people, as opposed to individual councillors, developers and corporations.
