Fund services, not horse racing

BACK PEOPLE OVER HORSE RACING

Tell ACT Labor to end their special deal with the industry and fund the things people need đźŹ…

The ACT Labor Government must stop propping up an industry on its last legs that delivers no public good, and instead back services people actually want and need.

The ACT Labor Government funnelled more than $8.5 million to the horse racing industry in Canberra this year.

They have the backing of the Liberals and Independents to invest in an industry that generates revenue from gambling and animal harm.

ACT Labor gave more funding to the horseracing industry this year than they did to our entire professional and community sports sector!

That's right, the horse racing industry gets more than all of Canberra's grassroots and community clubs, the Brumbies, Raiders, UC Capitals and Canberra United combined.

There's a lot we can do with $8.5 million - like properly fund the sports sector, deliver more community services, provide more support in our schools, and more preventative health care - but every year the old parties choose the horse racing industry instead.

In a budget of 'tough' decisions, where rates have gone up and services were cut, the ACT Labor Government reckons it's fair to keep sending taxpayer money into the pockets of an industry that delivers no public good.

The Greens want people to get a better deal - where government puts people, and the services they need, first.
