Does it feel like you're drowning in bills, struggling to keep food on the table and worried about paying your rent or mortgage? You're not alone.
Right now big corporations are raking in massive profits from Canberrans struggling with the cost of living.
That's why we've proposed an ambitious, measured and fair plan to tax big corporations in Canberra - to fund the things people really need and safeguard essential services from being cut.
But ACT Labor have once again chosen big corporations over people just like you.
They have passed on the costs of the ACT Budget to Canberrans through a new $250 levy - it is unfair, regressive and doesn't consider that people are already facing challenges in this cost of living crisis.
That's why the Greens are opposing this levy. Instead we're calling on Labor to back a Big Corporations Tax to raise more than this levy and fund vital services cut in the Budget, like the rent relief fund. It will also mean Canberrans don't have to unfairly pick up the bill.
Join the call to get Labor to choose everyday people over multimillion dollar corporations.
Our proposal would raise approximately $107 million per year - which can safeguard funding for essential services and help the government to:
🩺 Improve access to free GPs
🍎 Ensure ongoing funding for essential community supports like food relief and homelessness services
🏡 More support for renters
🌳 Protect existing environment funding
🚌 Make public transport free for seniors, concession card holders and students
