A delegation from the ACT will represent Canberra on the global stage in Singapore for International Energy Week, meeting with international representatives from government, business and academia.
Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) is an annual event for energy professionals, policymakers and commentators to share best practice and solutions within the global energy space.
The ACT delegation, led by the Minister for Water, Energy and Emissions Reduction Shane Rattenbury, includes representatives from government, academia and local businesses.
“Canberra has a climate-conscious population, with many great minds working on innovative energy solutions, and smart climate and energy policies,” said Minister Rattenbury.
“The ACT may only be a small jurisdiction, but that brings a lot of advantages to develop and implement local solutions to climate issues. As a global leader in climate action, we’re keen to reach beyond our borders and share these ideas on a much larger stage.
“Singapore International Energy Week presents an opportunity to reach beyond our borders to share knowledge, attract investment and grow our local renewable energy economy. We have a lot to offer, and a lot to gain as well by meeting with international representatives. Our delegation is signalling that Canberra has a strong and climate-conscious market, great commercial minds working on innovative global energy solutions, and smart policies that, combined, create an excellent environment for investment.
“My hope for this delegation is that we can attract new investments and opportunities for the ACT region in the critical area of renewable energy, innovation, and climate action. It’s a great opportunity for the Territory with several Canberra businesses and ANU representatives joining the trip.”
Minister Rattenbury will meet with Singaporean Government representatives and speak at the Singapore-International Energy Agency Ministerial Roundtable on Energy Security in a Low Carbon World - a platform for regional energy leaders in both the public and private sector to collaborate on critical issues and opportunities for harnessing clean energy for the future.
Other events for the ACT delegation include a roundtable event, networking, site visits, and business meetings. The delegation will also have a conference booth at the Asia Clean Energy Summit as part of Singapore International Energy Week.
The ACT delegation includes representatives from:
- Ardexa
- ANU Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program
- JLL
- Neoen Australia
- Smart Energy Council
The cost of the Minister’s delegation is approximately $30,000. This is met from the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Executive budget. The final cost will be released as part of regular travel reports.
