Grants open to build community connection

2021-02-03

Minister for Mental Health and Assistant Minister for Families and Community Services, Emma Davidson has launched a new round of Community Connection grants to fund $98,200 for activities that support Canberrans to engage and connect with their communities and build a stronger sense of community.

Funded by the ACT Government the grants provide up to $5,000 for community groups, organisations and individuals who wish to build and maintain community connection.

“We know the ways Canberrans come together has changed as a result of COVID-19 and through these grants we want to support COVID safe ways for people to build and maintain connections in their communities – including through local and neighbourhood groups and arts, social, cultural, spiritual, sporting and recreational community groups,” Minister Davidson said.

“This grant round, which is the second round of funding for this program, has opened to meet the huge demand for support received in the first round. We want to support as many activities as possible so people can connect, engage with and feel included in their communities.”

Applications opened Wednesday 3 February and close 5pm Wednesday 10 March.
