ACT Greens Transport spokesperson Andrew Braddock says the latest MyWay+ outage raises serious questions about whether the ACT Government has any control over the contractor responsible for delivering the troubled system.
"Yesterday we learnt there are still no scheduled delivery dates for long-promised MyWay+ family accounts. Today we learnt Android users lost access to real-time public transport information because NEC failed to meet repeatedly-announced, routine annual updates to Google requirements. That's far short of the world class ticketing system promised." said Andrew Braddock MLA.
"The missing family account functionality remains a glaring example. Families were told these features were coming. Nearly two years after launch, they are still waiting and there is still no delivery date.”
"I thank the Minister for her candour in answering questions, but the central issue remains unanswered.
"Is NEC meeting its contractual obligations? And if it isn't, what consequences are there for continued failures to deliver promised functionality and maintain critical services?"
"If a major IT company responsible for maintaining a public transport app cannot keep pace with routine platform requirements, serious questions need to be asked about its performance and the Government's oversight of the contract."
"People rely on real-time public transport information every day. They use it to decide when to leave home, whether they'll make a connection, and whether they have time to make other arrangements. Losing that information for days on end is not a minor inconvenience.”
"Canberrans deserve a reliable ticketing system, functioning real-time information and a Government that holds its contractors accountable for delivering what they were paid to provide," said Mr Braddock.
