With the backing of the so-called Opposition, the Federal Labor Government is about to take away crucial supports from over 241,000 people, almost one third of  those who rely on the NDIS.

These cuts are disgraceful, they are an act of political cowardice, but most importantly they are dangerous. The supports this bill will take away from hundreds of thousands of people are essential for everyday life, and indeed often life-saving.

What’s more, we know state and territory governments are not ready to provide the supports being cut from the NDIS .

The federal government keeps pointing towards the “foundational supports” states and territories will be required to provide. But right now, “foundational supports” are just a slogan.

We are urgently rallying against this bill, and we’re asking as many Canberrans and Australians as possible to join us.

“Labor has recommended the passage of the NDIS Amendment Bill ignoring the evidence of over 4500 submissions, Disabled People’s Organisations and the human rights commission. We are rallying to show that we will not be silenced in the face of this atrocity”

“Our community are facing cuts that threaten our lives, whilst Labor has continued its unprecedented increase in defence spending racking up billions. Labor could fully reverse the planned NDIS cuts right now by stopping this increase in defence spending. We demand funding for disability supports, don’t sacrifice our lives for a drive to war.”

“Disabled people across the country have rallied for months. The results today won’t be the end of our campaign for the supports we deserve to thrive.”
