Labor's Transport Tunnel Vision

2025-08-05

Lines attributable to Andrew Braddock MLA, ACT Greens spokesperson for transport in response to Transport Minister Chris Steel’s inability to answer basic questions about public transport costings:

“Canberrans are sick and tired of being given vague and uncertain answers about the future of vital infrastructure they rely on every day.”

“How do we expect to have a well-functioning transport system when Minister Steel has no idea how much he will spend on MyWay+ this year, let alone when deadlines for light rail will be reached?”

“Thanks to MyWay+, basic parts of our transport system simply do not work. 10 months later, we’re still waiting.”

“Under Transport Minister Steel, public transport is going backwards, and road spending is ballooning.”

Minister Steel said that bus frequencies will increase in ‘this term.’

“Can we expect that to mean tomorrow or in 2028?”

“The Greens are focused on ensuring Canberra’s public transport options are fast, efficient, and affordable. We will push Labor to properly invest in a long-term public transport system that works for everyone.”
