Across Australia, the cost of living keeps climbing - groceries, rent, bills - everything’s going up except people’s pay. For many, even getting from A to B has become a struggle.

That’s why the Greens believe public transport should be free and accessible for those doing it tough, students, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income earners.

Free public transport isn’t just about saving money, it’s about connection, opportunity, and dignity. Getting where you need to go shouldn’t depend on what’s in your wallet.

But right now, too many people are locked into the expense of running a car, because the alternatives just aren’t good enough. At the same time, transport emissions are the ACT's biggest polluter and they're still rising.

The Greens' plan will make Canberra easier to get around by ensuring all weekday buses come every 20 minutes and by picking up the pace on extending light rail.
