In Ginninderra
The electorate of Ginninderra is centered around Belconnen, extending from Macnamara to Fraser, Lawson and Aranda.
Jo Clay MLA, Leader of the ACT Greens, is your Member for Ginninderra, representing the local community to ensure all Canberrans can live a good life with great public services, affordable housing and a thriving local environment. We’ve got big plans for Ginninderra, with your support.
THE ACT GREENS WILL:
- Establish community housing in Belconnen town centre close to services and public transport
- Upgrade Belconnen library so that is more accessible
- Restore the R2 and R3 to West Belconnen
- Save Big Splash for community use
- Support local community landcare projects including Belconnen wetlands and Emu Creek
- Plan and build a new public school in the Belconnen Town Centre
- Deliver the Belconnen Busway with priority lanes for buses between Belconnen Town Centre and Civic
- Establish two bulk-billing GP clinics in Canberra’s north
- Upgrade Margaret Timpson Park with barbecue facilities and tables, public toilets and a play area for kids
- Set up a freestanding birth centre, separate to the North Canberra Hospital campus
- Plan light rail to Belconnen via Kippax now, so we can roll out construction more quickly
- Upgrade community sports facilities at Jamison Oval, Aranda District Playing Fields, Hawker Softball Field, Hawker Football Centre and Fraser Oval
- Make major improvements to the Hawker shops
- Deliver cycling paths separated from the road for Belconnen Way via Hawker to Ginninderry, Belconnen Town Centre to Kippax alongside Southern Cross Drive, and extend the Belconnen Bikeway into Florey and through to Charnwood
- Improve water quality and the health of the local environment with a new rain garden and native garden at Bevans Street Playground in Higgins
