NT Greens: If the Federal Government do not sack the NT Government, the people must in August

2016-07-26

The Chief Minister of the Northern Territory must resign immediately.

The Greens candidate for Braitling, Dalton Dupuy, says: “The current NT government, led by Adam Giles, has been covering up these offences and is unfit to lead. The horrors shown on Four Corners Monday night only served to make this dire situation public.”

“There is no justifiable reason to torture and abuse children in the care of the state,” Mr. Dupuy says. “The brutality demonstrated and approved by the Territory government shows they have no moral compass and means they have to go.”

“Mr Giles, this happened on your watch, and you covered it up. You have brought shame upon all Territorians.”

“Show some courage, Mr Giles and step down. You no longer have the right to govern,” said Mr. Dupuy.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice commissioner, Mick Gooda, called for the federal government to sack the NT government. “If the Prime Minister won’t do this, Territorians must at the end of August.”
