Morgan Rickard

Candidate for City of Darwin - Chan Ward

Morgan Rickard has been a library and youth services worker for the City of Darwin since he moved to Darwin in 2013.

He has built up his own successful video production business, run community arts workshops with seniors and at-risk youth, and sat on the management committees for a youth centre and a housing organisation – but most people in our area know him as the ‘Storytime Guy’ at our local libraries.

Morgan lives in Nightcliff. He is a union delegate of fifteen years and is committed to making Council the best employer in town.

“I love Darwin, it’s such a special part of the world. I’ve worked in our libraries for eight years and I want all our local services to be welcoming and open to all. I’m running for Council to deepen its commitment to greening the city and tackling climate change, providing good public services, and partnering with local First Nations people for justice.”

Chan Ward covers these suburbs and communities: Bagot, Coconut Grove, Fannie Bay, Jingili, Ludmilla, Millner, Minmarama, Nightcliff, Rapid Creek. In Chan Ward in 2017, retiring Greens Councillor Robin Knox was elected first with 37.4% of the vote - making it the Greenest ward in the Territory.
