Australian Greens spokesperson for Small Business and Greens candidate for Higgins Jason Ball have launched a comprehensive plan to give small business a fair go.
“In recent years the Greens have been the real voice for small business, as the establishment parties have looked after their big corporate donors,” Senator McKim said.
“The Greens will continue to fight for an effects test, remove some of the administrative burden and restore the loss-carry-back provisions abolished by the Liberals.”
“We will increase the threshold for GST registration from $75,000 to $150,000 or more for businesses, and from $150,000 to $300,000 or more for not-for-profits.“
“This will liberate a further 300,000 Australian small businesses from the burden of quarterly Business Activity Statements, and let them get on with what they do best – running their business.”
“We will also invest $20 million in mental health programs for small business owners, because we understand that running a business can be extremely stressful.”
Mr Ball said the trickle-down economics favoured by the Liberal party did nothing to help small business owners.
“I've heard from many small business owners in Higgins who are frustrated that the Government are talking about tax cuts, but are not focused on assisting them in growing their small business."
"There are a lot of small businesses in Higgins that are struggling to get to that next revenue bracket. We want to provide that support and clear some of the red tape that exists for them."
"I'm proud to stand for a party who put people at the forefront of their economic policy and not the top end of town."
