Adi Munshi

Candidate for Kingborough Council

Hi, I'm Adi!

I'm a tourism manager, an environmental advocate, and a proud Kingston local – and I'm running as your Greens candidate for Kingborough Council.

I've been managing the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre for the City of Hobart since 2021, helping visitors and locals experience the best of this incredible state – responsibly, and with respect for Country, community and wildlife.

Through that role I've also been part of the City of Hobart's Harvard Bloomberg Innovation Track project, working to redirect 95% of green waste from landfill by 2030.

But my commitment to this place goes beyond my day job. I've volunteered with environmental and social justice organisations, helped establish community road clean-ups in Coles Bay, got my wildlife rescue training through Bonorong, and taken part in non-violent direct actions to protect Tasmania's native forests. I believe in leading by example – if not now, then when? If not me, then who?

As an immigrant who has faced racism in this country, I also know how important it is to stand up for others. The challenges we're facing – climate change, housing, inequality – can only be solved together.

This election I'm focused on what Kingston needs: better waste education and infrastructure, solutions to the housing and homelessness crisis, more accessible public transport, and a community that genuinely celebrates its differences.

I want Kingborough to be a place where everyone is welcome and everyone belongs.

Hope to see you on the campaign trail,

Adi
