Hi, I'm AJ!
I'm a landscape architect, a Hobart local, and a father of three – and I'm running as your Greens candidate for Hobart City Council.
My professional life has been shaped by a simple idea: that good public spaces make better communities. I design places that are inclusive, resilient, and built around how people actually live – and I want to bring that thinking to the decisions our council makes every day.
In recent years my sense of civic responsibility has extended well beyond work. I've been involved in advocating for medical aid into Palestine – something I came to not as an activist, but as a person who felt a responsibility to do something. That experience deepened my commitment to human rights and reinforced the importance of speaking up clearly on things that matter. It's part of what led me to stand for the Greens.
I'm motivated by fairness, compassion, and basic human dignity. As a parent, I think a lot about what we're passing on – the kind of society, the kind of city, we help build for the next generation.
This election I want to see Hobart invest in its public spaces and street trees, strengthen climate resilience, and ensure First Nations voices are genuinely central to decisions about land and community – not an afterthought.
Hope to see you out there,
AJ
